SSD Health conflicting messages

WEBMessages. 3,220. JoK said: However, disk management shows the drive and the partitions as healthy. This just means the partitions haven't shown errors yet and weren't unsafely unmounted. SMART can predict imminent failure, but disk manager doesn't check for that. Otoh, it matters what stat (s) are showing (pre)failure.

PC Health Check says I qualify for Windows 11, but Windows …

WEBThe reason I mention these specific details is that they may factor into my system not qualifying for Windows 11. Originally, I thought it was the GPU holding back too many Win 11 features; so I ran PC Health Check to confirm, and found out the issue was actually having to turn TPM on.

Blank health tab in HDTune

WEB4,742. Lol not a Dell, and no, not related to SMART in BIOS. I actually had SMART as "disabled" in BIOS up till yesterday, and HDTune had previously been able to read health data from all of my HDs. I've had these 1TB drives since Dec 2008, so yeah, it strikes me as odd that after almost 2 years, suddenly I can't read Health tab on one specific

Samsung Magician Drive Health Accuracy

WEBI have recently purchased new Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB M2 NVMe. It was in the original package etc. I have installed windows, browsers, office and a couple of other programmes taking around 55GB on my SSD. I did that in two days (didn't use the desktop other than that) and when I installed Samsung Magician it was showing 220GB have been written.

Do S.M.A.R.T. reset utilities exist

WEBNov 19, 2008. Messages. 14,941. If SMART says the drive is bad and it is still under warranty I would RMA it immediately. Actually I RMA drives at work if SMART reports more than 10 total relocated sectors. It's pretty rare to see any on a drive less than 3 years old. If the drive is not under warranty and you believe the SMART report is false.

WEBHi all, I have a system composed of a 256GB Crucial M4 as the Windows boot drive, and 1TB WD black drive as the secondary/bulk storage drive. Recently, one of my SMART diagnostic tools (SpeedFan) has been reporting some pending sectors on the mechanical drive, so I decided to try running

Calling all MacBook users

WEBOptimized Battery Charging is enabled and in effect, limiting the charge to around 80%. All my charge cycles were from 80% to 100% and back down to 80% because, sometimes, the MacBook would start charging from the 80% limit to 100% when I restarted the laptop and then bringing it back down to 80%. My charge cycle count is 7 and my battery's

How to test Seagate SAS drives

WEBI have a stack of about 15 seagate 10/15k rpm drives at work that have fallen out of various RAID arrays over the years. I've had no luck with anything like Seatools or whatever to figure out if they are actually bad or not. I've used a couple different cards [AOC-SASLP-MV8, SASWT4i]

HD Tune found 1 damaged block on laptop HD. What to do

WEBGuest. Backup your data and replace the hard drive. That's what I'd do. It's usually fairly simple so swap out a hard drive in a laptop. You could run a disc check and try to repair (chkdsk /r) but I'd be wary of that. You could at least try though, AFTER backing up any and all important data. Oct 21, 2012.

New SSDs are showing 98% and 99% in Crystaldiskinfo

WEBI noticed just now that only after a couple hundred hours (355 and 194) they're showing as 98% and 99%. They're still pretty new, as I purchased them only 2 months ago. Is this normal? For comparison, my (older) Samsung SSD still shows 100% in CDI.

VA better than IPS for eye comfort and reading

WEBI've used 9 LCDs in the past 10 years 3 TNs, 2 VAs, 4 IPS. My impressions in terms of comfort: TNs: 1 excelent, 1 unusable, 1 very good. VAs: both good, no eye strain, but fuzzy texts. IPS: 1 unusable, 1 excelent, 1 excelent (old HP ZR22w) still use it for everything other than gaming, 1 tolerable (some discomfort).

What tool/method do you use to prevent Fraying when cutting …

WEB5,895. and when the wire becomes frayed again, after stretching it over your cables and such, wrap the ends with small piece of electrical tape (same color as heatshrink). this will prevent them from fraying more, and "heatshrink sticks to electrical tape better than it sticks to sleeving". and you can leave out the step about burning the ends

I need an Infinite Health or God Mode cheat in BF2 Singleplayer

WEBI need infinite health though. Yes, it's for benchmarking purposes, so I can run through a map taking fire and not getting killed. There was a trainer I used to do this in BF:V, maybe someone will figure out one for BF2 in time. Jun 26, 2005. #7.

Is higher refresh rate better for the eyes

WEBUsing a higher refresh rate won't help your eyes tire less. Brightness settings, PWM flicker, size of the screen, viewing distance and size of the details you are focusing at will be the main factors for determining the amount of eye fatigue. There's also low blue light modes in many newer monitors that's supposed cause less eye fatigue.
